Johanna will be live-in-person at Auntie Amy’s rubber stamp store in Riverside, California, from 10AM to 6PM on Saturday for a trunk show. Free make and takes all day, and free pack of paper with every purchase. She’ll have some of the just-released images with her, as well as a sneak peek of the upcoming holiday images. If you’re in the Southern California area, don’t miss this event. Johanna only does public appearances about once a year.

I love the clock that I made with this kit:

Originally I wanted it to be a working clock but it ended up too bulky. So I turned it into a memory of the kids current bedtime. After I finished this I got the idea to make clocks of all the other important times in our day and hang them on the narrow wall at the end of the hall between the kids rooms.

Just a quick layout about my two kids taking tumbling. I loved the little journaling pocket and I stamped the Just a Note stamp, cut out Note and s to make Notes for the pocket.

A Hot Dog and Mac & Cheese Kinda Night

I try really hard to do the right thing. Really hard. A lot of the time i just fall flat on my face trying too hard. Keeping the kids engaged and eating healthy are two big priorities, of course. Sometimes, though, I am tired and the kids are tired and whiney. Like tonight. But tonight I knew ahead that things were about to turn bad. That I was probably going to start yelling and the kids would be sent to their rooms. I didn't let this happen. I just let everyone chill tonight. I let go of all my expectations, made my kids favorite meal, and let them watch a movie. I guess all I am trying to say is that sometimes just letting it go for once is the right thing. I do need to think of better ways we can all relax and calm down when we get like this. If anyone is reading this I would love some ideas!

I signed up for Tour de Fleece. I started spinning a few months back with a Spindle kit I got from Hello Yarn. Quality spinning is of course not my goal at this point but I haven't even even practiced in at least a month. One of the Tour de Fleece goals is to spin every day, but I really need my goal a little bit more realistic for me. So, my goal is to spin at least twice a week. Tuesdays and Thursdays are my target days, but twice a week is all I am after. My secondary goal is to finish the wool I already started. Here's hoping!

I have been scrapping again. I am now a member of the Lime Tart Design Team. Used my first kit this weekend and loved it! I am also now a member of the Odd Bird Planet Design Team. Absolutely fabulous rubber stamps there! And a benefit is working with several of the ladies from the Self-Addressed Design Team. So many new and exciting things happening that I will post about in the future!

And just because she is adorable and it's a reminder of why I do most everything I do...

Spent the day at my parents house. The kids made special 4th of July t-shirts this morning.

Picked up water balloons for the kids to play with while there.

This is the first 4th of July since both of my grandparents have passed away, leaving a bit of a shadow on our holiday. We have, for as long as I can remember, spent the day with them and my Pop's family. It is so easy to get caught up in our sadness and forget that we need to go on. There are little ones that give us reason to be happy. Now that we are moving into our new, spacious house, I want to take on these celebrations that should continue. My mother has tried and quite frankly can't handle it. I want to do it the way I remember it being done by my grandparents generation. No matter how much they had, they always knew how to throw an excellent party! Lets hope i can pull it off half as well...

Popsicles, Crafts and a Little Vegetation

I am horrible about making sure to get the kids outside. I rarely come up with activities for them. I am trying, though. I love that my photos are here to remind me of just how wonderful it can be.

Today, I really wanted to let them do a craft project outside. We are still moving in so I didn't have a lot of supplies here. We went to Michaels and bought some supplies before grocery shopping. We were a little disappointed to find it raining heavily when we got out. That didn't stop us. We sat at the kitchen table to create our projects.

Anna grunted at me every time she needed me to peel back the paper on the felt stickers.

I am so proud of Warren for working so hard on this project. I was worried it was a bit to ambitious for him, but he did great and never complained!

I have also been working hard to eat less packaged food. Not doing to bad but I hate the time it takes. I love to just throw the food in and be done. Love casseroles!

Another of my goals this summer is to make a salad before every meal. The kids are always asking for something to eat while I am making dinner so I told them if they want something just before dinner. It will either encourage them to eat salad (I wish but doubt) or stop them from asking for food before dinner (more likely). I really think Warren will start to warm up to the salad thing sooner or later as he has done with most foods. He ate his first baked potato tonight! He always gagged on them in the past. There is hope!

Thus begins my summer of Creating my Life. Through more involvement with my kids, better food, new creative opportunities, new home, and many, many new challenges.
